The software protects the computer by virtualizing data. In "Normal" mode, DiskWriteCopy creates a virtual copy of the chosen partition. The user doesn't notice any changes to computer operation or interface, but all data on the disk remain unchanged, while any changes the user implements affect the virtual copy. Thus any changes like settings adjustments, registry alterations, disk formattings, file downloads or virus infections on the hard drive remain on the virtual copy only. If you reboot the computer, the virtual copy is deleted and a new one is created for the new session from the original disk. This can be repeated until you switch off protection mode.
In "Incremental" mode, DiskWriteCopy again starts by creating a virtual copy to which all changes are applied, but after a reboot the copy does not disappear. Thus you can continue to work with the virtual copy, and changes made before the reboot will be available. The number of reboots is not limited, and changes pile up over time. To delete the virtual copy you simply have to switch the protection off.
Disk Write Copy Server will allow you to use your server or workstation without limitations and launch any programs, even of unknown origin. You don't have to worry about the data on your hard drive, at the next startup everything will be restored thanks to Disk Write Copy Server. The disctinctive feature of the Server edition is that four drive protection modes specially optimized to work on server high-load platforms are supported:
- NORMAL PROTECTION MODE - Data is recovered at each server or workstation restart.
- NORMAL-FAST PROTECTION MODE - This mode features faster initialization at server or workstation restart, which allows faster recovering after faults.
- INCREMENTAL PROTECTION MODE - When this mode is active, the administrator can choose himself when to recover the data, i.e. arbitrary number of restarts is possible and data between the restarts will be accumulated and stored using the Disk Write Copy technology.
- INCREMENTAL-FAST MODE - This mode features faster initialization at server or workstation restart, which allows faster recovering after faults.
Using of Disk Write Copy Server Edition allows you to use your server or workstation without limitations and reduce the fault recovery time significantly!
How it works?
When you turn on the disk protection mode for the server or workstation, Disk Write Copy Server creates a shadow copy of the original disk image and allows the user to work with the shadow image only. The original disk is not changed and stored on the disk unaltered. You work with the computer as usual, but when you reboot, you see the original unchanged copy of the disk. All changes are applied to the shadow image, which is deleted after each restart (when using the normal protection mode) or after the restart you choose (when using the incremental protection mode). The distinctive feature is that the shadow image is stored in the free sectors of filesystem and does not require additional disk space. You don't have to spend time creating the disk image - everything is done immediately!
